10:07pm and I’ve just finished my 12th hour of study for the day, bazillionth for the week, and I’m done. As of right now I have officially covered 27 weeks worth of work in 6 days.
Don’t you just wish you had my life? NOT!
I love the quote I’ve titled this entry with. It’s my motto for the next 8 days (and counting). I think I stole it from someone’s blog, but I can’t for the life of me remember who’s so apologies in advance if you read this and I stole it from you!
The small things in life are amusing me and getting me excited right now. Here are 2 things I am quite chuffed about…
Dante invented this little setup here, so all props go to him. Talk about killing 2 birds with one stone: exercise and watching a lecture!! You can’t really see it from here but that red band is rubber physio strapping that I’ve tied around my laptop to stop it from falling off when my cycling gets just that bit too vigorous!
The lecture makes the exercise time whiz by, and I get to re-watch lectures I would never have made the time for before. Watching anatomy ones are especially helpful. I may yet conquer anatomy with the help of this little device.
This is far less technological, but I still love it and can’t quite work out why I never did it before. The first page here is the respiratory system summarised in one page, the next shows the exits of the cranial nerves from the skull, the third is muscle contraction and the smallest one is calcium homeostasis in the body. I also have the coagulation cascade on my bedroom wall. I am yet to laminate one and stick it up in the shower like I know other people have, but if I had a laminator I don’t think I’d be far off!!!
As you can see my life is pretty much consumed by study right now. I’m even dreaming about it, because when I wake up in the middle of the night there are multiple choice questions spinning around in my head. I’m trying to do some exercise (a lot on the bike) to get me away from the desk and get moving. I’m also trying not to eat too much crap, with varying success. Last week I made some relatively healthy oatmeal-choc-chip pecans cookies. Unfortunately I ate 3 in one day so I had to fob the remaining ones off onto D. and my brother. They weren’t as enamoured with them as I was, but now they are out of temptations way.
Once all this is over I have big plans for healthy eating, doing some more regular exercise, starting up yoga, swimming and getting back into tennis.
I also plan on going shopping! I think in the last 2 years I have bought less than 5 items of clothing which is a record for me. The last few months I haven’t even had time to look at a shop.
I am female and this is just not natural!!!!
The challenge I have set myself is to spend a whole day going into *every damn clothes shop on King st, Newtown*. For those that know King St you’ll realise that is quite a task, but I think I am up for it!!!
I am in desperate need of some new black pants (mine are now decidedly grey), and some summer tops. All mine are either threadless.com tshirts or very mangy looking tops I have owned for years that have seen better days. And most of them are black. Time for some variety, methinks.
Anyway I’m going to end this with another quote that I got in a Sparkpeople email yesterday. The irony of this one bowled me over:
“failing” is only failure if you quit
So true!!!

I got dragged into a shop 2-3 weeks ago
, this article is disputed.. -D

You said it sister! We always say that in my house too. That and “bad days don’t last”
I am so impressed with your dedication to your studies. Very inspiring. You may be working your butt off but you obviously have a goal in mind and I have no doubt you WILL succeed.
And what an exercise/study setup, awesome! You have a very clearer man there and hey, they always try to dispute us don’t they LOL
I’d love to go shopping with you to celebrate when the time comes!!

Whoops, I meant to say “clever” man not “clearer” man. What is with that!? LOL
