So 3 sweet days of freedom have already slipped through my fingers. I’d love to be able to say that I’ve made the most of them, but in reality I spent all day Wednesday moping around with the mother of all hangovers after celebrating Tuesday afternoon/evening. Since when do I get hangovers? I guess mixing Strongbow, Champagne, wine and spirits is not a good idea huh. Either is drinking for 10 hours straight!!
Anyway my plans of getting back into the health/fitness routine haven’t quite materialised. The most active thing I managed to do on Wednesday was walk 200m up the road and get my legs waxed. And believe me I was exhausted after that - had to come home afterwards and have a bit of a lie down.
Yesterday I spent most of the day inside madly trying to work out the best way of putting our timetable for next block up on the Internet. Seeing as we start back again on Monday (oh for another week off!!!) I pretty much had to get it done yesterday, which I did, but it took up most of the day.
Late afternoon I headed off down to Broadway and spoiled myself by getting a ½ hour massage down there. I adore the Chinese masseusists (sp?) down. I really respect the way they can just tell by feel what is causing you pain – you don’t even have to tell them which part of your back hurts. They are awesomely strong too, most definitely “therapeutic”.
After the massage I wandered around in a bit of a daze. I have to blame this post-massage blissout and the fact that I’ve been watching too much What not to wear for buying a new pair of shoes. And wait for it, they have both pointy toes and have heels. For someone that spends 99% of the time wearing either Crocs, Doc Martens or thongs, this is a major event!!!!
The only heels I currently own are a pair of chunky knee-high boots, and another pair of chunky heels that I have had for close on 10 years now. I have probably worn them less than once per year, so they are still in ok condition.
Now these heels are only about 1cm high, but they’re still heels. And pointy!!! Will wonders never cease.
I also bought a dress too, which I am fully in love with. It’s casual and cotton and red – how can you beat that!! Mary, if you’re reading this I am still up for the King st challenge though!!! I still need a pair of black trousers!!!
Today I continued the pampering theme and got a pedicure. I’ve only ever had one before, about 6 years ago. I’ve been planning this one for a while, as a post-exam treat, and it didn’t disappoint. My toe nails now match my new dress!! I don’t think I’ll be waiting another 6 years to have another one that’s for sure!!
The rest of the day was spent walking around in the heat of the city for 6 hours. A couple of friends and I were planning on going to the beach, but figured in this heat we’d just get burned, so tried to stay indoors instead. I don’t think our pasty I-have-just-spent-the-last-2-months-indoors skin would have withstood the harsh sun today. What a heat wave!
Having said that I am pretty keen to hit the beach soon. After all I no longer have legs that would make a gorilla seem bald by comparison, so what better time than now!
p.s. tomorrow the indulgence continues. If all goes to plan I will be getting my hair cut in the afternoon, followed by a lovely dinner down at Circular Quay before watching the Tempest.
p.p.s. did anyone else watch the netball last night? What an amazing game – go Australia!!!!!
